Price Style & Design: ORC Week #2 Layering Color

October 10, 2019 Leslie Price
One Room Challenge Leslie Price Interior Designer Lafayette CA

Welcome to week #2 of the One Room Challenge! I’m thrilled to be participating as a guest designer in this biannual event, where featured designers and guest designers are challenged to makeover a room in 6 weeks!

I’m transforming my living room! If you missed Week #1, click here to read about how my living room looks now, and why I’m focusing on changing the colors of the space.

In the past week, I’ve selected fabrics and placed orders for furniture. This is a quick turn around for custom furniture — and I’ve made special requests to my fabricators to accommodate my short time frame!!

I’ve selected a white crypton fabric to reupholster the sofa from Thibaut Design and have ordered a custom chaise with the same fabric. I’ve been totally into crypton fabric lately, because it’s stain resistant, which means “kid and pet friendly”! Here is a close up of the sofa ‘before’:

Yes, we are those people that let our dog get on the furniture! :) A white crypton sofa will be the perfect backdrop for colorful accent pillows and I won’t have to worry about the dog getting it dirty!

In addition to the sofa, I’m going to have this bench that I inherited from my parents, reupholstered too.

And I’ve decided to add two of these chairs to the space:

This is how it’s looking so far!

Interior Design: Before & After Bathroom Remodel

My clients have two young daughters and needed this bathroom to more efficient with storage and space. They wanted a timeless design in their 100 year old home that would transition with the girls as they grow from playing in the bathtub as toddlers, to maximizing space needed for makeup, hairdryers, etc as they become teenagers.

There is nothing like spending time in a happy and bright space that brings joy. This family loves to use their dining room for weekly ‘family game nights’ and theme parties as well as hosting their friends for dinner. I’m excited to share the details of the transformation!

Interior Design: A Pretty Place for Reading

In this project, in Orinda, Ca., I was tasked with coming up with a design solution for a landing space at the top of a stairwell. It was a space that was too small for a loveseat and chairs, and too big and open to use as a home office.
